« A la Reine » armchair, (flat back) gold leaf on the wood, horsehair, Marie-Antoinette Tassinari & Chatel fabric, Houles piping, hand stitched.
A la Reine expression is used to describe a flat back during the second half of the 18th century and adopted by Marie Leczinska (Louis XVs wife). This type of back became widespread under Louis XVI.

A la Reine armchairs are destined to be used along a wall as opposed to cabriolets with concave backs that are placed in the room’s centre.
